Update to the Onomasticon of Classical Pseudonyms and Avatars – December 2019
In the year since we announced our “Onomasticon of Classical Pseudonyms and Avatars,” it has become one of the most visited pages on Pharos. In this update to the database, we’ve added four new pseudonyms from some of the largest hate sites that Pharos has documented:
- A Breitbart “Virgil” who reviewed Gibbon’s Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire alongside a racist novel that white nationalist and senior White House advisor Stephen Miller recommended.
- A white supremacist “Domitius Corbulo” who warns of a “ploy to rob Europeans of their heritage [that] has been in the making for some decades.”
- A “Hippocrates” who writes a race pseudo-science column called “The Galton Report” for American Renaissance.
- A “Seneca III” who calls “political correctness” a “Marxist-Socialist-Islamofascist mind control strategy” on the Islamophobic site Gates of Vienna.
Our full discussion of each, along with all the other classicizing names and images we’ve documented so far, can be found in the Onomasticon itself.
